Mercury Trashes The Original

Can’t say I disagree too much, but I did enjoy my meal there — if that makes any sense at all. According to the Mercury, though, the “Dinerante” is “gimmicky, showy, and plagued with problems.” Ouch.

The New York Times recently called it “a super-designy restaurant that wants you to think it’s just a hipster diner.”

    We took our crew there last week. It wasn’t as bad as all that, but what I noticed is that it was more concept than restaurant. Once you peeled away the gimmick, it was pretty thin. My lobster benedict was less than mediocre. The breakfast burrito looked good otherwise we were unimpressed,
